RailKM is built to work without collecting personal information. This policy explains exactly what is — and is not — stored when you use the site.

Information we collect

RailKM does not require an account and does not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers or payment details. You can use the entire distance engine anonymously.

Cookies

RailKM does not set cookies for advertising, analytics or profiling. If a hosting or CDN provider sets a strictly necessary operational cookie, it is used only to serve the site securely and is not used to identify you.

Local storage

RailKM stores a single key in your browser's local storage —railkm-theme— which remembers whether you chose the light or dark interface. It never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.

Route inputs & URLs

When you plan a journey, the selected station codes are written to the page URL (for example ?route=NDLS-BPL) so the route can be shared or bookmarked. This information is not transmitted to or stored on our servers.

Third-party services

Fonts are self-hosted and served from this domain. The site may be delivered through a content delivery network, which processes standard, non-identifying request logs (such as IP address and user agent) for security and reliability.

Analytics

RailKM does not run advertising networks or behavioural analytics. Any future privacy-respecting measurement would be disclosed here before it is enabled.

Children's privacy

The service is not directed at children and collects no personal data from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Because we do not hold personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export or delete. You remain in full control of your browser's local storage and can clear it at any time.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the service. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
